Am 17. November fanden landesweit Veranstaltungen zum 44. Jahrestag des auch von der Arbeiterjugend Athens unterstützten Studentenaufstandes vom Polytechnikum statt. Dieser Aufstand war ein Höhepunkt des Kampfes gegen die von den USA und der NATO unterstütze Militärdiktatur. Der Aufstand wurde von der Junta zwar blutig niedergeschlagen, läutete aber den Beginn ihres Endes.

In Athen wurde eine Großdemonstration zur USA-Botschaft organisiert. Auf dem Spruchband der Parteiorganisation Attika der KKE stand „Nein zu den Vereinbarungen von Regierung – USA. Keine Beteiligung an den imperialistischen Planungen und Interventionen!". Zusammen mit den Organisationen der KNE füllten sie mit ihren roten Fahnen die Straßen Athens. Mit dieser großen, dynamischen und organisierten Beteiligung setzten die Arbeiterklasse, die Volksschichten, die jungen Menschen ein klares antiimperialistisches Zeichen gegen die Vereinbarungen von Tsipras und Trump und gegen die Verwicklung des Landes in die imperialistischen Planungen und seine Umwandlung in ein NATO-Sprungbrett.

An der Demonstration nahmen auch junge Wehrdienstleistende teil, deren Losung „Die Soldaten kommen aus dem Volk und haben außerhalb der Grenzen nichts zu suchen!" durch den ganzen Demonstrationszug verbreitet wurde.

Mit dabei war auch eine große Delegation des ZK der KKE, geleitet vom Generalsekretär Dimitris Koutsoumbas. Gegenüber den Medienvertretern erklärte er: „Die Botschaft des Polytechnikum-Aufstands ist heute aktueller denn je, nachdem zwischen Trump und Tsipras in den USA vereinbart wurde, die US-Todesstützpunkte in unserem Land auszubauen und im Interesse der NATO und nicht der Landesverteidigung aufzurüsten. Dazu kommt die beschämende Abmachung, der US-amerikanischen Militärindustrie 2,4 Milliarden Dollar in den Rachen zu schmeißen, damit sie ihre Interessen gegen die Völker durchsetzen kann, und das in einer Zeit, in der das griechische Volk von den Memoranden und den volksfeindlichen Maßnahmen in die Knie gezwungen wird, und dessen Einkünfte immer mehr schrumpfen. Darauf muss eine Antwort kommen".

Demonstrationen und andere Veranstaltungen fanden in allen Städten Griechenland statt. In Thessaloniki fand die Demonstration vor dem US-Konsulat ihren Abschluss.

In 17th of November all over Greece events took place in honor of the 44^th anniversary of the uprising of the students of the Polytechnic University of Athens, who had the support of the working youth of Athens. It was the peak moment of the struggle against the US - NATO backed military dictatorship. The uprising was violently  suppressed by the military junta, but this also marked the beginning  of its end. (foradditionalhistoricalfactsseehere)

In Athens  a big march to the US Embassy took place. “Against the government’s agreements with the US. No involvemen t- participation in imperialist plans and interventions” was written on the banner of the Party Organization of Attica of KKE, which along with the organizations of KNE filled with red flags the streets of Athens. With the massive, dynamic and organized participation in the demonstration, the working class, the popular strata and the youth sent a clear anti-imperialist message against the agreements between Tsipras and Trump and against the country’s involvement in the imperialist plans and its transformation into a NATO’s bridgehead.

Young soldiers also participated in the demonstration and the slogan “The soldiers are people’s children, they have no job outside the country's borders” echoed to the entire demonstration.

A large delegation of the CC of the KKE participated in the march, headed by the GS of the CC, Dimitris Koutsoumpas who made the following statement to the media: “The messages of the Polytechnic Uprising are particularly timely today, after the agreement between Trump and Tsipras in the US, which expands the American bases of death in our country, which also increases military spending for the needs of NATO and not for the defense of our country. And even more after the signing of the disgraceful agreement of 2.4 billion dollars that the government SYRIZA-ANEL will provide the American military industry, in order to carry interventions against the peoples for their own interests, at the same time that the Greek people suffer from the memorandums, the anti-people measures, their income is constantly decreased. All of them must get their answer.”

Demonstrations and other events took place in all the cities of Greece, and in Thessalonica the demonstration ended up to the US Consulate.
