The anti-communist and anti-democratic frenzy in Ukraine and Russia must stop immediately!

On 11 March 2025, the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) held a picket outside the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens, while a delegation of the KKE and KNE affixed a letter of protest to its door.
With this protest, the KKE and KNE condemned the prolonged political persecution, arrest and torture of Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich, members of the Ukrainian Communist Youth League (Komsomol).
They denounced that this persecution is being carried out on false and fabricated charges and highlighted that it is unacceptable, as is the attempt by the Ukrainian authorities to bring new charges against them and send them to die on the front line of the imperialist war.
The KKE and KNE demand the immediate dropping of all charges against the Kononovich brothers and their release, while stressing that the Ukrainian authorities hold responsibility for their safety.
They also demanded the abolition of all anti-communist and other anti-democratic laws that prevent the free and unhindered expression of the true will of the Ukrainian people, who are experiencing the tragic consequences of the imperialist war.
They once again raised the unacceptable ongoing anti-Soviet propaganda about “Golodomor”, the elevation of Ukrainian Nazi collaborators, such as Bandera or the men of the 14th Galician Waffen-SS Division to heroes and patriots, and other relevant decisions of the current Ukrainian authorities aimed at rewriting history and justifying the Nazis.

Letter of protest to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Athens
At the same time, the KKE sent a letter of protest to the Russian embassy in Athens condemning the prolonged political persecution, arrest and five-year imprisonment of the Marxist sociologist Boris Kagarlitsky.
In its letter, the KKE notes that this unacceptable political persecution has been carried out on false and fabricated charges and puts Boris Kagarlitsky’s life at risk.
The KKE demands the immediate dropping of charges against Boris Kagarlitsky and his release, stressing that the authorities of the Russian Federation hold responsibility for his safety.
The KKE also calls for the abolition of all undemocratic laws that prevent the free and unhindered expression of the true will of the people of the Russian Federation, who are also suffering the tragic consequences of the imperialist war.
Finally, the letter describes as unacceptable the continuing anti-Soviet propaganda against the Bolsheviks and V.I. Lenin, the leader of the October Revolution, coming even from the very lips of the President of the country.
Among them is the recent attempt (February 2025) by a state expert in a court in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg to present Lenin’s fundamental and emblematic work “The State and Revolution” as a “terrorist manual”, in order to condemn as terrorists the members of a Marxist Group who had been taken into custody.
Equally despicable is the decision to name the Higher Political School of a university in Moscow after the Russian fascist philosopher Ivan Ilyin, who praised the regime of Nazi Germany in the name of victory against Bolshevism.
Both the letter to the Ukrainian Embassy and the letter to the Russian Embassy stressed that such actions are unacceptable and provocative for peoples like the Greek people who shed their blood against the monster of fascism, which capitalism gave rise to, especially this year when we commemorate the 80th anniversary of its defeat by the heroic Red Army and the partisan movements led by the communists.
